Photographing Cats & Kittens
If cats don’t want to do something then they won‘t do it and all you can do is love them for it, we have an infinite amount of patience and are passionate about cats. Our cat portraits are simply the result of luck, perseverance, care and teamwork.
Photographing Cats in the Studio
The studio has been set up to provide a safe secure environment for cats, it’s self-contained, with no trailing cables. Flashheads are placed above our models, never directly in front of them and cats and kittens are photographed at floor level/slightly above rather than from a table/raised platform. The floor is covered with luxury faux fur which is incredibly soft underpaw. When a photograph is taken, the flash is so brief that many cats seem oblivious - show cats, have seen it all before (we’re sure we’ve seen them yawn).
After the shoot & Quality Control
Digital images (both studio and location) are always emailed to clients so that they can select, at their leisure and in the comfort of their own home. Every selected image undergoes a strict quality control procedure, firstly it is cropped to ensure maximum impact, colour corrected and then digitally retouched to remove stray hairs, sleep around the eyes, any areas of dryness around the nose/mouth etc. Several test prints are made before a final print is created using specialist fine art inks and papers.
Feeling Blue & Cat Wrangling
Blue paper backgrounds are bit like marmite ~ you either love them or hate them, we find them cold, dull and old fashioned. Anyway onto what we do love which is cat wrangling, we’re ok but it’s the owners, who astound us with their skill and ingenuity ~ cat owners, we salute you.
